How do I join?
The Choir is some 70 strong at the moment but we are always interested in new members. If you would like to join then all you have to do is to turn up to a rehearsal at the start of a new season. We usually start on the first Monday in September and January.
Will I need to audition?
No. We want people who enjoy singing.
Do I need to be able to read music?
No. It does help, but we have a lot of singers who cannot read music.
Do I need to buy my music?
Some members do buy their own music but the choir hires the music for you and you pay for the cost of the hire. The cost of the hire is sometimes free but is usually just a couple of pounds. This helps us to keep our subscriptions low.
If I own my own copy of the music do I still need to hire a copy?
No.
How much are subscriptions?
A year's subscription to the choir costs £34.00 or you can pay £17.00 a term. You will also need to pay for the hire of your music if you do not own a copy (this will only be a couple of pounds per piece and will vary depending on how much the hire library charges the choir).
When do you rehearse?
We rehearse on a Monday night from 7.30 to 9.30
Where do you rehearse?
The choir usually rehearses in the Methodist Hall opposite the library.
